Who is Finnamie?
I’m Milla, the founder of Finnamie. Je suis une amie Finlandaise (I’m a Finnish friend).
My default settings are exceptional by Finnish standards: I’m social and talkative. I like good food and dinner parties, exploring nature and admiring design – so, I like beautiful things in fact. I have a particular soft spot for friendly people. I love meeting strangers and learning new things. I’m very interested in different cultures, as I’ve had the chance to travel a lot. That's why I want to offer this opportunity to others as well.
Responsibility
The whole concept of Finnamie is based on sustainability. The company doesn’t have its own premises; it’s a network. A guest stays and spends time with a local person, with the goal of discovering the local rhythm of life and being part of ordinary Finnish daily life.
Snowmobiles don't roar, and dog sleds don’t run to meet tourist groups’ needs. Our partners are just regular people. It’s like couchsurfing, but better!
The Finnamie network in Finland consists of people who seek events and new people in their lives. This is also part of our responsibility – responsibility to each other. In the countryside, where distances are long, it can be lonely for someone living alone. What a boost it is when a group of tourists shows up to join you for a fishing trip or pie baking!
The Finnamie network spans widely across Finland, from vibrant cities to the peaceful countryside. I’ll surely find the coziest spot where you can settle in and feel at home.
